Atlantic City, NJ to Kent Island, MD This is an unsupported tour in which Riders will be responsible for transporting their own gear. We will be camping out two nights, Saturday and Sunday, and return home on Monday, May 1st. Consider wearing your Oxon Hill jersey or a red jersey. Please bring your lunch with you, for Saturday. This will allow us to get a faster start, to get to Cape May and put up our tents before dark. The bus departs the Park and Ride lot on Mattawoman Beantown Road, at 7:30am Saturday April 29th. Please arrive early enough to secure your bicycle in the baggage compartment of the bus. The bus fare is $25.00. A bungee cord may be helpful to tie the bike. Be prepared to remove your front wheel and seat post. Once we arrive in Atlantic City, and assemble our bikes and gear, we will be off riding down the Jersey Coast toward Cape May. At some point we will stop for dinner before we get to Cape May. (This is roughly a 50 mile ride) On Sunday morning we will get an early start and have breakfast while heading toward the Cape May Ferry. You will need your drivers license ID and $9.00 to board the ferry. The ferry crossing is a two hour adventure and there are drinks and snacks available on the ferry. Once the ferry arrives in Lewes Delaware, we will have an additional 50+ miles to ride across the state of Delaware, for a total of about 60 miles on Sunday, before we arrive in the campsite at Martinak State Park, Maryland. We will stop for lunch along the way and again for dinner near the Maryland state line. On Monday morning we will ride to Denton, Maryland and have breakfast. Once we leave there we will head toward Kent Island. (About a 40 mile ride) My wife will meet us on Kent Island with the van, and transport rider’s to Clinton and the Waldorf bus lot. Thanks! |
